Overview

This course is designed to help you enhance your workplace literacy, focusing on reading and writing skills. You鈥檒l develop strategies to read, interpret, and respond to workplace texts in both digital and printed formats, learning how to locate and analyse key information.

The course also teaches writing techniques for creating both formal and informal workplace texts, with a focus on grammar, presentation, and tailoring content to your audience and purpose. By the end of the course, you鈥檒l have the confidence and skills to effectively manage the reading and writing challenges of today鈥檚 fast-paced workplace.

Delivery for this course is blended; face to face and online.

This course of learning includes optional non-accredited study in Communication Fundamentals and Writing Fundamentals.

Entry Requirements

To meet the inherent requirements of this course students will need to be at exit level ACSF 2 with the aim and ability to progress to ACSF level 3 throughout the course of study.

Potential student might be asked to attend an assessment interview to ensure the suitability of the course for the student鈥檚 needs.

Literacy Skills Information

We suggest that you will need Australian Core Skills Framework levels of at least 2 across reading, writing, learning, oral communication and, depending on your course of study, numeracy skills to successfully complete this course. If you do not have this level, you can still enrol and seek support to improve your skills or you may prefer to begin with a lower level course, or enrol in the Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways (FSK20119) to develop your literacy skills.       Description: This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to interpret and respond to information in routine workplace texts in printed or digital formats, such as instruction manuals, reports, emails, brochures, work instructions, notices, web pages with data and policies.An individual performing these tasks works independently and uses familiar support resources as needed.This unit applies to individuals who use, or are preparing to use, reading skills to complete workplace activities. This includes existing workers and individuals preparing for employment through vocational education and training. This unit should be integrated and contextualised with vocational training to support achievement of vocational competency.This unit is aligned to, but does not fully address, the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) reading core skill indicators .03 and .04 at level 3 in the workplace and employment domain of communication.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

This includes existing workers and individuals preparing for employment through vocational education and training.
