This practical course is designed for educators and support staff working in early childhood, outside school hours care or vacation programs. You鈥檒l gain the essential skills to respond to a range of first aid emergencies involving infants and children, including asthma and anaphylaxis, aligned with the latest guidelines from the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other national peak clinical bodies. Whether you鈥檙e working towards meeting regulatory requirements or simply want to be ready to respond, this course will give you the confidence and knowledge to provide high-quality care in critical moments.

To be successful in this course, students should possess a solid foundation in computer literacy and demonstrate motivation and organisational skills to complete training and assessments.

Students may be encouraged to undertake Foundation Skills accredited and non-accredited training to support their learning and success in the course.

Skills Recognition

Literacy Skills Information

We suggest that you will need Australian Core Skills Framework literacy levels of at least 3 across reading, writing, learning, oral communication and, depending on your course of study, numeracy skills to successfully complete this course.       Description: This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.This unit applies to a range of workers within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthma and anaphylactic emergencies. This includes early childhood workers and educators who work with school age children in outside school hours care and vacation programs.This unit of competency may contribute towards approved first aid, asthma and anaphylaxis training under the Education and Care Services National Law, and the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011).Specific licensing/regulatory requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training should be obtained from the relevant national/state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authorities

Specific licensing/regulatory requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training should be obtained from the relevant national/state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authorities.
