Duration:

 1 semester part time (approximately 8 hours per week for 17 weeks). Face to face classes.
Additionally, you will be expected to complete approximately 3 hours per week of individual study.

Entry Requirements

Successful completion of the Statement of Attainment in 2D Engineering Drafting (SA-TS106) or already hold all three of the SA-TS106 units of competency (MEM30031, MEM30032 and MEM09229).

      Description: This unit of competency defines the skills and knowledge required to create 3-D model assemblies using computer-aided design (CAD) and is primarily suitable for those performing a drafting role. It can be applied across a range of engineering disciplines including applications in CAD, computer graphics and animation, rapid prototyping, medical testing and visualisation of scientific research. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
      Prerequisites: MEM09229 Read and interpret technical engineering drawings
      MEM30031 Operate computer-aided design (CAD) system to produce basic drawing elements

      Description: This unit of competency defines the skills and knowledge required to create 3D solid models using a computer-aided design (CAD) system. It includes applications in CAD, computer graphics and animation, rapid prototyping, medical testing and visualisation of scientific research. This unit covers the set up and manipulation of CAD software to produce 3D solid models and includes the use of region and solid modelling techniques, section views, and pre-drawn library files, extraction of properties and application of basic rendering techniques. This unit is suitable for those working within a drafting work environment and can be applied across all engineering disciplines. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

      Description: This unit of competency defines the skills and knowledge required to use a computer-aided design (CAD) program to produce and print basic 3D view drawings. This unit applies to the production of 3D models using CAD software and associated equipment, including the use of region and solid modelling techniques, section views and pre-drawn library files. Work also includes extraction of properties and application of basic rendering techniques. The unit applies to engineering or related activities and is suitable for people giving technical support in manufacturing or engineering operations and those pursuing technical qualifications and careers at paraprofessional or technician level. All work is carried out under supervision. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
