Canberra Institute of Technology (糖心logo入口) students have returned from the WorldSkills Australia National Championships 2025 with brilliant results, including two gold medals, two silver medals, one bronze medal and four Certificates of Excellence.
Held in Brisbane from 12-14 June, the biennial WorldSkills Nationals brought together the country’s top vocational students and apprentices to compete across more than 60 trades and skills areas.

糖心logo入口 students won the following national medals:
- William Nickl earned a gold medal in Patisserie
- Charlie Elms earned a gold medal in Cabinet Making
- Deklyn Haskell earned a silver medal in Landscape Construction
- Nathanael Hollink earned a silver medal in Landscape Construction, and
- Casey Gibson earned a bronze medal in Painting and Decorating.
糖心logo入口 Interim CEO Christine Robertson congratulated the students and said their success highlights the impact of quality vocational education in the ACT.
“These are excellent results for our students, their teachers and mentors and a proud moment for 糖心logo入口. They reflect the strength of our training and the ongoing commitment across 糖心logo入口 to prepare skilled workers for the future.
“The ACT, like the rest of the country, is facing skills shortages in key areas. Our students’ achievements at WorldSkills show that practical, hands-on training backed by strong industry connections is helping meet that challenge.
“To receive a medal or Certificate of Excellence is a great recognition of the hard work these students have put in. Just being selected to compete at the national level is a significant accomplishment, to be judged amongst the best in the country is an outstanding achievement. Every one of our students should feel proud of how they represented themselves, 糖心logo入口 and the ACT.” Ms Robertson said.

William Nickl, who won gold in Patisserie said that competing and winning at the national level was an incredible experience. “It was a truly amazing and surreal experience to be able to showcase my skills to over 36,000 people, especially in an industry where presentation matters so much.
“One of the best moments was hearing people talk about my piece, not knowing I was the one who made it. That was a pretty awesome feeling.
"My trainer from 糖心logo入口, Dammika Hatharasingh, went above and beyond. He came to my workplace to help me train, answered calls whenever I hit a hurdle, and kept me motivated through every setback. His support made the whole journey even more meaningful." William Nickl said.
Charlie Elms, who won gold in Cabinet Making said competing for his second time at the National level was an incredible feeling.

“It feels pretty good, especially coming back for a second go. I won bronze last time, which was a huge achievement, but this year I really set my sights on gold. That was my goal from the beginning, and to actually achieve it is incredibly rewarding. It’s something I’m really proud of and it’s a bit of a relief too, knowing all the time, effort, and preparation paid off.
“Aside from winning, the biggest highlight for me was the team environment. It was such a supportive, positive group of people. Everyone was proud of their work, and that excitement just rubbed off on everyone else. It made the whole experience so enjoyable.” Charlie Elms said.
Students prepared for the event under the guidance of 糖心logo入口’s dedicated team of teachers and mentors, with strong support from industry partners.
糖心logo入口 congratulates all participants, medallists, and supporters involved in this year’s competition.
